Originally very practical in nature, signet or seal rings were designed in reverse and used to place initials or a coat of arms onto paper using wax, clay, or an embossing technique. Once this function was no longer needed, signet rings became entirely ornamental and the design was no longer a reverse mirror image.

This 10k gold antique signet ring (circa 1900-1910) is engraved with the letters "EFR" and features an etched floral design on either side.

The ring is in very good condition with some wear to the floral side etchings. It is currently a size 5.5 and can be re-sized free of charge.
